Jet Li and Tai Chi

Jet Li and Tai Chi

I enjoy watching Jet Li’s martial arts performances in his movies. His fighting skills are remarkable.

He studied Tai Chi from China’s highly respected Grand Master Feng Zhi Qiang, who was also my mentor. There is true value in Tai Chi as a martial art.

Some people (both Chinese and American) complain that Tai Chi seems too slow, and it doesn’t look like much physical exercise, or it doesn’t have the feeling of a workout.

Tai chi’s workout is invisible, subtle. It is slow for a reason – slow-motion, concentration – but it has a power that is very strong and rooted. Patience and persistence are the keys to success in Tai Chi.

In our modern, fast-paced society, we need a slow and balanced exercise to help regulate our lives.

Because Tai Chi promotes internal Strength by building strong Qi, it can be a powerful training tool for martial artists.

Many martial art school offer Tai Chi classes for both martial arts people arid non-martial arts people. You don’t have to be a martial artist to benefit from Tai Chi: People of all ages and abilities practice this all-round well-being exercise; including people with disabilities and ailments, who use it as therapy.
